Art 6- Modified Contour Drawing
Modified contour drawing is basically outline drawing with the addition of lines within the object as well as the silhouette. The students start at any point on their object and gradually work their way around, following the objects lines with their eyes, but looking back to their drawing as they go to check the position of their hand.
Five pairs of shoes have been placed on the tables for Art 6 students to create their modified contour drawings. Below are a couple of pictures of Art 6 students working on their drawings.

Flimp Festival 2012
I had the honor of taking my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to Flimp Festival for the chalk dawning competition again this year. We had a great time! The rain held off and it was nice and HOT! We had 14 groups representing Saint James and they created some amazing masterpieces in the parking lot of The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. The awards ceremony was this morning at MMFA, I am excited to announce that one of our 8th grade groups (Taylor Meadows, Katie Brabham, Lauren Talkington, & Madi McKinney) won 3rd place! Below I am attaching the winning artwork and some extra pictures from our day.
