VAAP 2012

Congratulations to the following middle school students who won awards in the Alabama Arts Council District ll Visual Achievement Awards Program held at Troy:

Emily Kent- 1st place- Drawing
Kendall McCann- 1st place- Painting
Zara Ahmed- 1st place- 3D works
Carly Mattox- 1st place- printmaking
Gabrielle Pohlman- Wild Card
Sydney Cramer- 2nd place- 3D works
Emma Moody- 2nd place- printmaking
Sarah Claire Loeb- 3rd place- 3D works
Tayor Meadows- 3rd place- photography

The first place award winners art work now goes on to the state competition. Wild Card- are chosen the day after judging by Troy art students. The wild card can be any artwork in any category. If an artwork is chosen for wild card it will also go to the state competition along with the first place winners.

I am very excited to announce these awards! Each teacher was limited to 10 works. Out of our middle school students 9 of our works won an award! Plus, 5 of our students works go onto the state level. This is just amazing and I am so proud of their accomplishments.

I am also very honored that I received the 2012 Visual Arts Achievement Program Teacher Award for recognition of Artistic Achievement as an Art Educator.
